What is a CO2 laser?
CO2 laser energy creates a deep thermal effect that stimulates the collagen in the vaginal tissue to remodel itself.
The energy from the CO2 laser is delivered to the vaginal tissue through a holographic lens, triggering 81 pulsed thermal beams within a small 9×9 mm area. Microscopic beams of thermal damage penetrate deeply into the mucosal tissue while preserving the surrounding tissue entirely intact.
Such a micro-ablative effect stimulates the formation of new collagen, rejuvenating the target tissue in its entirety.
Why do we use it?
We use it for vaginal rejuvenation in both the premenopausal and postpartum periods to regenerate a loose vagina. In the postmenopausal phase, it is employed for the treatment of urogenital atrophy.
CO2 laser is also used to treat stress urinary incontinence in women who have mild to moderate issues without changes in the statics of the genital organs (no uterine prolapse, no anterior vaginal wall descent (cystocele), and no posterior vaginal wall descent (rectocele)). CO2 laser is also utilized for the treatment of lichen sclerosus and for bleaching of the external genitalia.
